Energy management ISO 50001 For Businesses

Manage energy instead of just consuming it.
Lower costs. Keep processes under control.

Energy Management for Industrial Companies

“Finally, a system that doesn’t just document—it actually manages.”

  • clear metrics
  • ongoing savings
  • Consistent processes in everyday life

Who is this relevant for?

  • For companies that are no longer classified as SMEs and have a total energy consumption of more than 7.5 GWh.
  • In such cases, an energy management system is generally required—even for affiliated companies and corporate groups. Violations may result in fines of up to 50,000 €.
  • In addition, the topic will be covered in the news.
  • We'll show you how to meet these requirements effectively— and put it to good use.

What Sets Us Apart

  • We're building the system – and take responsibility for it.
  • From implementation through to ongoing operations, we're right by your side. No change in consultants. No need to start over. No additional interfaces.
  • One partner. One system. Everything from a single source.
  • We coordinate behind the scenes and continue to develop the system.
  • You focus on your business. We manage your energy management.

The result

  • You're in control – Not just transparency.
  • Energy can be managed using measurable metrics. Measures become predictable.
Continuous improvement is managed on an ongoing basis.
  • No project. Rather, a system that works in practice.
  • A clear EnMS that you can manage and further develop on your own in the long term.

What are your costs?

Locations, energy consumption, and structure determine the effort required.

Reliable. Transparent.
You’ll know the cost before the project starts—no surprises.

This is how we do things

  • 1.

Collecting and Organizing Your Energy Data
  • 2.

Analysis of Consumption, Processes, and Facilities
  • 3.

Establishing a Functional Energy Management System
  • 4.

Defining clear measures and key performance indicators
  • 5.

Preparing for Certification and Operation Your effort: Manageable.
Clear collaboration with minimal effort—you provide the necessary inputs.

And after that?

  • We remain responsible – permanently.
  • From launch to ongoing development.

What does that mean, specifically?
These are the questions that need to be addressed now:

Yes—if total final energy consumption exceeds 7.5 GWh per year, an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001 is mandatory. This includes the company’s total energy consumption:
electricity, gas, oil, and fuels used for production, equipment, and the vehicle fleet.

This also applies to multiple locations and affiliated companies.

An energy audit is no longer sufficient in this area.
You need a system that continuously monitors energy consumption and demonstrably improves it.

ISO 50001 certification is conducted by an external, independent auditor.

  • The audit covers not only the documentation but also actual operations:
Energy consumption and key performance indicators
  • Processes and Responsibilities
  • Implementing Measures in Everyday Life

Typical Process:
System Implementation → Internal Audit → External Certification Audit → Annual Surveillance Audit

The goal is a system that works within the company—not just for auditing purposes.

ISO 50001 is based on a clear principle: energy management must be continuously improved.

Specifically, this means that
consumption is continuously measured, analyzed, and optimized.

Every year, an assessment is conducted to determine whether energy performance has actually improved.

For companies, this means:
Energy becomes a controllable factor—with direct implications for costs, efficiency, and operational safety.

A certified energy management system is audited regularly:

  • Annual surveillance audits conducted by external auditors
  • Comprehensive re-audit during the certification cycle (every 3 years)

During the re-audit, the entire system is re-evaluated—from key metrics to implementation.

If the system does not function properly during operation or no improvement is evident,
the certification is at risk.

ISO 50001 is therefore not a one-time project, but rather a permanent management system.

ISO 50001 brings structure to one of a company’s largest cost categories: energy.

This leads to:

  • significantly lower energy and operating costs over the long term
  • better decisions regarding investments and grants
  • clear lines of responsibility within the company
  • Transparent metrics for management and employees

For employees, this means clear processes instead of isolated measures.

For management: greater control over costs, energy consumption, and profitability.
